This topic highlights that indoor air problems are caused by poor building design and/or occupant activities. Building-related illnesses (BRI) and sick building syndrome (SBS) are the two main indoor air issues that have direct and indirect impacts on health, workplace comfort and productivity of the occupants. Furthermore, those responsible for occupant health and safety at the workplace often misunderstood the causes of illnesses and conclude that they are individual problems and completely ignore the fact that the problems may well lie within the workplace. The goal of assessment is to identify that the complaint is related to indoor air quality, identify the cause of the complaint and determine the most appropriate corrective actions.
